Our mission is to bridge the digital divide by providing access to computer technology, training and content in the state of Indiana for underserved individuals. Our consortium will bring educational resources, social services, and employment opportunities to engage, enlighten and empower individuals toward a brighter future of independence.
Our History
In 1995, HUD created the Neighborhood Networks program to encourage property owners to establish technology based multi-service community learning centers in HUD insured and assisted properties. Neighborhood Networks was one of the first federal initiatives to provide computer access and promote self-sufficiency to low-income housing communities (www.neighborhoodnetworks.org). As part of this mandate, centers were opened in various communities throughout the United States.
Indiana Neighborhood Network Consortium, Inc. (INNC) was formed in February 2004 and was incorporated by the State of Indiana on September 29, 2005, as a result of Neighborhood Networks centers in the state of Indiana meeting with HUD representatives to discuss how HUD could assist in fulfilling centers' goals. To that end, INNC members have met with the intent of establishing a consortium, the Indiana Neighborhood Network Consortium that addresses many of the centers' individual issues. Neighborhood Network center coordinators have formed a Board to discuss strategies and develop a strategic plan that maps out future growth of INNC and notoriety for Indiana
